After a firestorm of criticism, Fox News Corp. says it has canceled its plans to publish the O.J. Simpson book If I Did It. The book’s release was to coincide with a two-part television special featuring an interview with Judith Regan.Rupert Murdoch, chairman of News Corp., which owns Fox, says it was an “ill-considered project.”Some Fox affiliates said they would not show the two-part TV special that was supposed to air next week, in advance of the Nov. 30 publication of the book by ReganBooks — a publishing imprint owned, via HarperCollins, by News Corp.
Simpson’s need to be in the limelight has been thwarted for now.
UPDATE: The Goldman family has received rights to the book and it has just been released. They say they will use the profits to help abused women. I’m going to buy it, not read it, and then burn it.
